Best move

For most central Houston visitors, the first stadium move is the METRORail Red Line to Stadium Park / Astrodome Station. For a noon kickoff, aim to be in the NRG Stadium area around 10:45 AM; that means leaving downtown around 10:05-10:15 AM, Midtown/Museum District around 10:20-10:30 AM, and East Downtown around 10:00 AM because of the Central Station transfer.

Route moves

Downtown, Midtown, Museum District

Take the Red Line southbound to Stadium Park / Astrodome Station. METRO lists event-window rail operation from 5 AM to 1 AM, approximate 6-12 minute frequency, and $1.25 regular fare.

East Downtown

Use the Green or Purple Line to Central Station, then transfer to the southbound Red Line for Stadium Park / Astrodome Station. METRO lists the Green and Purple Lines at about 12-minute frequency during the event window.

Park & Ride

Fannin South is one Red Line stop from the stadium. METRO lists free parking at West Loop Transit Center and Route 211 West Loop Shuttle to Fannin South from 8 AM to 11:55 PM, about every 30 minutes, with a $2 bus fare.

Airport starter

From IAH or HOU, use downtown as the first transit decision point, then continue by Red Line if the timing and luggage plan still work.

Friday June 26 evening kickoff

For the 7 PM kickoff, shift the same buffer later: leave downtown around 5:05-5:15 PM, Midtown/Museum around 5:20-5:30 PM, and East Downtown around 5:00 PM.

Decision cards

Noon kickoff math

Target NRG by 10:45 AM. Add extra time for alerts, heat-index, elevators, accessibility needs, bag checks, pre-purchased parking status, group separation, and storm checks before leaving and before exit.

Bag and storage

NRG Park's tournament event page lists a clear bag policy for stadium guests: max 12 x 6 x 12 inches, small purse or handbag max 4.5 x 6.5 inches, and no onsite storage lockers.

Driving comparison

If driving, compare posted parking status with Fannin South and West Loop options before entering the stadium area.

Accessible exit

NRG Park accessibility guidance supports planning mobility pickup and sensory/family wait options before the match ends.

Re-check day-of

METRO alerts

Check rail status, service alerts, detours, payment-transfer rules, Fannin South / West Loop parking choices, and whether the June 12-22 10-day transit pass fits the group's stay before setting the final leave time.

NRG entry

Recheck bag, storage, mobile entry, gate, parking, accessibility, and no-reentry rules from NRG Park event pages and the A-Z Guide. Current event pages say parking will NOT be available for purchase on site on match day, and ADA parking is also pre-purchased.

Street and pickup

Check city street-use records, clean-zone notes, rideshare edges, parking status, and storm timing before choosing a pickup, wait-out, East Downtown follow-on, or driving plan.
